Vegetables & Summer School

So I started Summer School at Aberdeen Uni this week. Should really be getting some Chemistry done right now but instead I'm uploading photos of radishes. Here are some radishes!

I have coffee now and I have a bunch of Chemistry notes/help sheets so I'm going to spend the rest of today attempting that. I'm also taking Geoscience and Biology but no homework for those so far. Hopefully I remember how to do homework! :D

Martin & Jerome!

I got some new pots for my chilli plants. Also gave them names! The one on the left is a Hungarian Hot Wax called Martin and the one on the right is a Red Cherry called Jerome.

Film Processing

Finally got round to processing a bunch of films I've had sitting around for ages.  I should really do this more often instead of waiting a couple years.

They're hanging up in the bathroom now until I cut them up and store them away. At least two are from Florence and one is from Berlin. There are a couple others that I'm not sure about!

Putting out bread for these guys maybe isn't the best idea. They might think this is a good place to nest...

Tech I love – BE Broadband competition

So I normally post blogs about plants and don't normally write very much, but I wanted to give the competition by Be Broadband to write a blog about technology I love a go. It also means I might write a bit more for once instead of just posting photographs of aphids!

The technology which I love the most would have to be film cameras. Specifically my Pentax K100. This is probably the most robust camera I have ever owned and seems intent on surviving no matter how accident prone I seem to be.

The ability to capture an image with this small item and then to be able to reproduce it in prints amazes me every time. I love cameras so much because they allow me to photograph and record a certain point in time which I want to conserve and without a camera would be soon forgotten. (Especially by me since I have the memory of a fish!)

Film cameras are not the newest type of image capture device but for me they capture light in a unique way and developing and processing my own films makes it much more special. Film can lead to strange and unique mistakes and seeing the image develop before you is always amazing. It is also completely personal when you are photographing, processing and developing yourself and I feel totally involved in every part of the technology. I understand this technology more than any other and that is one of the reasons that I love it more than others.

Here's an infrared film photograph to finish this blog post! :)

Not sure if my Lithops is growing new leaves or turning into an alien.

I made a rockery! And had a awesome visit to the garden centre where I got all these rockery things. :D

I am super happy. I will use it everyday, I swear.

Also, a sandwich box with a panda on it. This makes sandwiches extra tasty to me.

It's been really sunny here today so I probably should have taken photographs of that rather than my lunchboxes in the dark. I did take this photograph yesterday in the daylight.

(Although I mainly took it because the washing machine is crazy and shook so much that it shook my camera right off a table. I took a photograph just to check it still worked does so all is well.)
